The other morning I rolled into the gym at 5:30 a.m. A popular early morning aerobic boxing class was in progress and I groggily weaved my way through the class members toward the locker room. Halfway through the crowd I was jarred awake upon reading the six-inch high, bold black letters on the front of a fellow's t-shirt as he tentatively pawed at the bag. The shirt read, "Jesus Didn't Tap MMA". Wow. Really?
Well, I haven't co-opted a religious figure, nor have I gone the tried and true skulls/pitbulls/swords/chains, destruction and mayhem route toward MMA t-shirt design, but I just plunked down the money to have some new Bohemian t-shirts printed. If they don't sell, I'll only have myself and my poor marketing skills to blame, because Alisha Riddle came up with some first class designs. Two of the designs have just gone into print and should be finished by the last week of October. Other designs will be available in the coming months.
Salima Touchal, the designer of this website, is developing the Bohemian Brand site where the shirts, and perhaps my DVDs, will be sold online. I saw the first draft of the site and, as usual, her work is really, really excellent.
This past weekend I took part in a fundraiser for the Woodland High School wrestling team. Dave Andrade, who was my assistant while I coached wrestling at UC Davis, organized the event for his alma mater and did an outstanding job. There was a silent auction held in conjunction with a comedy show on Friday night, and Saturday morning I taught a free wrestling clinic for the area's high school and junior high wrestlers. I had a terrific time and the events raised a couple grand for the kids. Great weekend.
On Wednesday I'll be working on a new television drama on NBC called "Trauma". This is my second episode on the series and I'll be a stunt double for one of the actors in a fight scene. The stunt coordinator has designated me as his "fight guy" for the series, so I'm hoping the characters develop anger issues and the scripts call for more fight scenes as the series moves forward. Well, a fellow can hope.
